About art and artists

Here I’m thinking about art, per sé.

So, what about art?

Well, first of all art is made by artists. An artist, such as I define myself, is someone disciplined. Someone who knows how is actually important to completely devote yourself to your (maybe) next ‘masterpiece’.

Because art is what gives you the tools to survive hard times, because that’s nothing like those times when we feel an intense pain, rage, joy, sadness, fear to create something; and I guess I know why we, the artists, are really just a bunch of humans in the middle of all humanity.

Art requires sacrifice. I don’t know why, but it does. When you really want to reach other people through art (of any kind: composing, painting, acting, filming, photographing, singing, playing, and of course writing) you HAVE to tell the truth about yourself.

You do that through your “opera”; so your truth remains hidden. And man, that process is painful, let me say it.

But it’s cathartic too.

Every artist reading these words knows what I’m talking about.

And when you finally realize you did actually reach someone, really anyone, there it happens this ‘relief’ sensation. All you did, you did for a reason.

That’s why anyone who, sooner or later, becomes an artist does what he or she does.

At last, my guess is everyone can become an artist. Just a few really try, though. And I actually think I understand that too.
